Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the number one streamed track in just 6 months. Mixing reggaeton and pop music came out in 2017 by the Puerto Rican musician Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee. It has become the most streamed track at that in just six months. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mostly, and four in the year 2016. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 of them. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) famous artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma in Medellin (2019). Reggaeton's mainstreaming was an issue for some artists by the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. It often blended elements from electronic dance music, as well as different styles.
