Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, an American producer stage and screen actress best known for her film roles in Ray Undercover Brother and on the television series The Mentalist. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in African-American Studies at Brown University as well as a Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Aunjanue has a reputation as an American actor as well as a producer and director. She is employed in film and television. Her acting career began in the theatre. She then appeared in several television shows in independent films, mainstream and movies. The actress gained fame as Miranda Shaw on ABC's Quantico as well as on the epic BET series The Book of Negroes for which she received not just high praise but also received a host of awards and nominations including the Television Critics Choice Award nomination for the Best Actress in a Film. In 1995 she debuted as Ariel on the stage in The Tempest. Her stage credits are Come and Gone Drowning Crow and Seeking the Genesis, a Broadway production of Joe Turner. With regards to her work in the film industry the most recognizable roles she has played include Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express The Help. Her work in television she's received praise for her performance as a regular character on ABC's police drama High Incident.
